Doughnuts
- 2 cups (240 g) all-purpose flour
- ½ cup (100 g) granulated sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp fine salt
- ¼ tsp ground nutmeg
- 4 Tbsp (56 g) unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- ¾ cup buttermilk
- 1 Tbsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 Tbsp strawberry preserves
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, finely chopped
Strawberry Glaze
- ½ cup fresh strawberries, diced small
- 1 Tbsp heavy cream
- 1 Tbsp strawberry preserves
- 2½ cups (300 g) powdered sugar
Instructions
- Heat & Prep
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Generously spray two six-cavity doughnut pans with nonstick oil.
- Dry Mix
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg until evenly combined.
- Wet Mix
- In another bowl, whisk the melted butter with eggs, buttermilk, vanilla extract, and strawberry preserves until smooth.
- Combine & Fold
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and stir until just moistened.
- Gently fold in the chopped strawberries.
- Fill the Pans
- Spoon the batter into each doughnut well, filling about ¾ full for proper rise.
- Bake
- Bake 7–9 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the doughnut’s center comes out clean.
- Transfer pans to a wire rack and let the doughnuts cool completely before glazing.
- Make the Glaze
- In a medium bowl, mash the diced strawberries with heavy cream and preserves.
- Gradually whisk in powdered sugar until you achieve a smooth, dip-worthy consistency—add more sugar if it’s too thin.
- Glaze & Enjoy
- Dip each doughnut into the glaze or spoon it over the tops. Allow the first coat to set, then repeat for an extra-thick finish if desired.
- Best enjoyed fresh—grab one (or two!) right away.
Notes
Tip: For an even stronger strawberry punch, swap heavy cream in the glaze for a splash of strawberry juice from your preserve jar. Enjoy these tender, fruit-strewn doughnuts any morning you crave something sweet and special!
